There’s an appliance that you likely have in your home that most people would never expect to be a significant hazard. It’s an appliance that most families use multiple times a week, and it saves us a lot of time. That appliance is your average, unassuming clothes dryer. The main reason why a dryer can be a hazard has to do with one very specific component of it – the exhaust vent. What do we mean?
Well, there are two potential issues that we’ll share with you. The first has to do with where the dryer’s exhaust vent is pointed. Typically, a dryer will be installed inside the home against an exterior wall. This allows the vent to go outside, releasing the exhaust into the outside air. If the exhaust is being released inside your home, it can be the cause of significant moisture issues. Finally, the conduit that vents the air should be as straight as possible. Bends in the conduit mean that debris and lint can get stuck on the sharp corners, becoming a serious fire hazard.
